FCAL Events

Monthly Board Meetings

The FCAL Board typically meets monthly on the 3rd Friday at 9:30 am at the Crandon Public Library. Dates and locations are subject to change. Meetings are open to the public, and members are encouraged to attend. Contact Us to confirm the next meeting place, date, and time, or if you have any items you would like to see added to the agenda.

NOTE: The July board meeting will be held July 12, 2024 at Nicolet College.

May 2024 Essay Contest

Each spring FCAL invites 5th and 6th graders from Crandon, Laona, and Wabeno schools to participate in an essay contest. Students learn about local invasive species, explore lake ecology and celebrate their adventures on local waterways. First, second, and third place winners at each school receive cash prizes and an invitation for them and their families to the FCAL Annual Meeting and Banquet.

July 27, 2024 Kentuck Days on Saturday

Join the festivities on the Crandon Courthouse lawn. Visit FCAL and WRISC (Wild Rivers Invasive Species Coalition) at our booth for information and fun give-aways.

August 16, 2024 Fall Forum

From 9:30 to 11:00 at Lake Lucerne Pavilion. Coffee and breakfast items will be served. A panel of speakers will address issues relevant to our local waterways. Bring your pressing questions related to the topics. This year’s speakers and topics to be announced.

September 2024 Environmental Day

A half-day educational forum for local high school students. Volunteers and speakers provide hands-on training opportunities both on and off the water. Date to be determined.

October 2024 Annual Meeting and Banquet

Open to all FCAL members and guests. Join us for the election of new board members, good food, and an informative, entertaining presentation.

August 10, 2024 (Saturday) – Roberts Lake 48th Annual Fisheree

Fishing contest begins at 7:00 am. Fisheree fun begins at 11:00 at the Association Clubhouse.

March 26-28, 2025 – Wisconsin Lakes & Rivers Convention

Join us for the annual Wisconsin Lakes and Rivers Convention taking place March 26-28, 2025 in Stevens Point. The theme for 2025 is “The Power of Words: Working for Our Waters”. Registration will open in January 2025. For now, save the date on your 2025 calendar!

June 27, 2024 at 6pm – Wild & Scenic Film Festival

Sponsored by the Northwoods Land Trust at the Three Lakes Center for the Arts. This event is a part of a nationwide tour to inspire and ignite solutions and possibilities to change the world. The cost is $20/adult, $12/youth. Funds raised will support NWLT’s mission to protect local land and water resources in northern Wisconsin. Concessions will be available during the fest. A social and reception will end the evening with complimentary beer.
